Lada car sales in Russia up by about 20 percent

A total of 50,918 Lada cars were sold in September 2011 alone

SAMARA, October 4 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s biggest car manufacturer, AvtoVAZ, sold a total of 443,917 Lada cars in the three quarters of 2011, or by 19.8 percent more than in the same period last year, AvtoVAZ press centre reported on Tuesday.

A total of 50,918 Lada cars were sold in September 2011 alone. The figure is by 0.3 percent bigger than in September 2010, the press centre noted.

The press centre cited the following sales statistics in the nine months of 2011 (on the same period last year): 109,785 Lada Kalina cars (up by 49.2 percent), 107,962 Lada Priora cars (up by 20 percent), 85,656 Lada Samara cars (up by 11.1 percent), 74,112 Lada 2105/2107 cars (down by 25.2 percent), and 44,705 Lada 4x4 cars (up by 47 percent).

The plant exported 5,059 Lada cars in September, and 37,723 – in the nine months of 2011.
