MOSCOW, October 3 (Itar-Tass) —— The booster Soyuz-2.1b with a satellite of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) was launched successfully from the Plesetsk spaceport, spokesperson of the Space Troops Col. Alexei Zolotukhin told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“The booster Soyuz-2.1b with a satellite Glonass-M was launched successfully at 00.15 Moscow time on Monday from the Plesetsk spaceport,” he said. The launch teams of the Space Troops were monitoring the launch by the means of the ground automated control system, the spokesperson said.

“The launch of the rocket passed as scheduled,” Zolotukhin added. “The main center of spaceflight tests and mission control named after German Titov is monitoring the launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1b in the radio coverage zone by the means of the ground mission control system,” he said.

Information Satellite Systems (ISS) named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev designed and produced the satellite Glonass-M. The satellite has a weight of 1,415 kilograms and a designed service life of seven years.
