IRKUTSK, October 2 (Itar-Tass) — The townhall and police of Bratsk promise to pay an award of 100,000 roubles “for trustworthy and exhaustive information which will help to track down people, suspected of committing premeditated arsons of forests”, Itar-Tass learnt on Sunday at the press service of the city administration.

The Bratsk police department reports that 11 criminal cases were instituted in connection with arsons and violation of a special firefighting regime and the state of emergency regime. “The department knows also facts of arson to conceal other crimes (robbery, damage to cables and rail sleepers),” the report says.

Police officers regard the version of premeditated arsons as the main version of fires.

On Saturday evening, Governor of the Irkutsk Region Dmitry Mezentsev addressed the city authorities who were censured by federal authorities, including President Dmitry Medvedev, for their tardiness in firefighting.

“We are duty-bound to ensure a different level of leadership in Bratsk where there are such responsive people, to examine the situation and to draw conclusions. The city has everything that the quality of life should be higher, and that it should look well in the mass media,” he said.

One major localised fire in the area of Galachinskie country houses remained in Bratsk on Sunday at 11.00. Over 500 people – only professional firefighters, foresters and civil paratroopers – are battling the blazes. A Be-200 amphibian plane works at smouldering areas in the Bratsk district wherefrom smoke flows to the city. Besides, two automatic aircraft jointed on Sunday the air group, involved in putting out fire here.
