Power of bomb detonated in Dagestan village makes 20 kilos of TNT

The bomb blast killed a police officer and a family of five people, including an 11-year-old girl in a car passing by

MOSCOW, September 29 (Itar-Tass) —— The power of a bomb, which killed six people in a blast in the Dagestani village of Tashkapur, has made about 20 kilograms of TNT, a source in the Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The bomb was detonated at about 3 p.m. Moscow time on September 28 on the crossroads of the Kupa-Gergebil road on the outskirts of the village Tashkapur in the Levashi district, when the armoured Toyota Land Cruiser was driving by with the chief of the Gergebil district authorities Makhach Magomedov inside. The detectives found out that the bomb was planted in a Zhiguli car parked on the roadside. Meanwhile, the police were staying near this car.

The bomb blast killed a police officer and a family of five people, including an 11-year-old girl in a car passing by. Another four policemen were hospitalized with various injuries.

“Investigation actions are being taken to find all the details of the crime and the terrorists. A team of detectives has searched through the murder scene. All forensic expertises were scheduled. According to preliminary estimates, the power of the bomb has made about 20 kilograms of TNT,” the source said.

An attempt on the life of the district chief Magomedov, who was not wounded in the blast, is being investigated as the priority theory.
