International conference in Kiev to discuss Ukraine-EU energy mkt.

It is an initiative of the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Yuri Boiko, who invited to the conference the energy ministers of the EU countries

KIEV, September 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich has welcomed the participants in the international conference Ukraine - EU: Towards a Common Energy Market, which opens here later today. According to the press service of the head of state, "the energy sector is a factor for reliability and efficiency of the world's economies and the special responsibility of governments to their citizens. So our goal is to create an energy market that will meet the needs of businesses and millions of consumers in Ukraine as well as in the EU countries,” Yanukovich said in a message of greeting.

According to Yanukovich, "Ukraine's accession to the treaty establishing the energy community allows us to realize a shared vision of systemic reform of the Ukrainian energy sector, to implement the norms of European energy legislation in the context of large-scale reforms in the way towards a united Europe."

The international conference is opening in the afternoon. It is an initiative of the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Yuri Boiko, who invited to the conference the energy ministers of the EU countries. According to the organizers of this forum, among the participants there will be the European Commission’s Commissioner for Energy Guenther Oettinger, representatives of relevant ministries from the EU and Ukraine, the multinational energy companies, scientists and experts. The conference will be a briefing for journalists.
