RME delivers humanitarian cargoes to Abkhazia

The first batch of cargoes has been already delivered to the Galsky border region

SUKHUM, September 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Humanitarian cargoes of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) has been delivered to Abkhazia. A motor column of the RME 179th Rescue Centre delivered 116 tonnes of cargoes, including tinned food, sugar, rice, blankets and two mobile electric power stations to Sukhum, ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the Department for Emergency Situations (DES) of Abkhazia on Thursday.

As a DES spokesman specified, the humanitarian cargoes will be distributed among low-income sections of the population, aid will be given to residents of Abkhazia’s border regions and its insular part.

The first batch of cargoes has been already delivered to the Galsky border region. According to the DES, all needy people, including socially unprotected families and orphans, as well as socially important facilities will get humanitarian aid.

Senior advisor of the embassy of Russia to Abkhazia Georgy Krylov said that “humanitarian actions - - disinterested aid of Russia to the fraternal people of Abkhazia, and it is symbolic that it being conducted on the eve of the significant for all Abkhazians holiday - - Independence Day.”

This aid is being rendered within the framework of the interdepartmental action under the aegis of the Border Service of the Russia Federal Security Service, in which ten ministries and departments of Russia take part.
