MOSCOW, September 28 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia is calling on the international presence in Kosovo to adhere strictly to the principle of neutrality, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Wednesday.
"Another outburst of tensions in Kosovo has confirmed the warnings, expressed repeatedly by many, including Russia, of the dangerous consequences of Pristina’s claims to control of the administrative boundary line between the territory and the rest of Serbia,” he said. “Connivance with Kosovo’s Albanian side contributes to the growth of its aggression, unwillingness to seek compromise solutions and take into account the legitimate interests of all ethnic groups living in Kosovo. "
"The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina has been suspended," the diplomat added.
"We are particularly concerned about the violence against the Serb population, committed by units of the Kosovo force (KFOR),” Lukashevich said. “Quite alarming are reports of a fire attack mounted on an ambulance, which was carrying wounded Serbs to hospital."
"Once again, we are calling upon all international institutions present in Kosovo, first and foremost, KFOR and the EU mission in the field of rule of law, to strictly adhere to the principle of neutrality,” the diplomat said. “Decisions that affect the stability and security in the region should be based on UN SC resolution 1244 - the basis of a settlement in Kosovo."
