KIEV, September 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko plans to take part in the Verkhovna Rada election in 2012 with Our Ukraine, the party said on Tuesday.

“I cannot run on the majoritarian candidate list because that may be viewed as an unfair political game. I must responsible for the party, not for myself. So, to ensure the victory of a political party is a much more knightly deed than to win by oneself,” Yushchenko said. He thinks that the opposition will be unable to form one organization with a common candidate list.

The Dictatorship Resistance Committee, which unites eleven opposition parties, demanded that Our Ukraine must dismiss its members, Yushchenko and former Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov who were witnesses for the prosecution in the trial of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko. Yushchenko accused Timoshenko of thwarting gas contracts with Russia for 2009 at acceptable prices.

Ukraine will hold its next parliamentary election by the mixed system: 50% of deputies will be elected with parties and 50% in single-mandate majoritarian districts. All the deputies of the current Verkhovna Rada were elected with parties.
