MOSCOW, September 27 (Itar-Tass) — Investigators have found evidence that selfish gains could have been the motive behind the murder of the deputy head of the administration of Podolsk, a town in the Moscow region.
"In the course of preliminary investigation and inspection of the crime scene involving forensic experts from the Investigative Committee's main office, it was ascertained that the robbers had stolen jewelry belonging to the victim, her mobile phone, and her handbag with documents, bank cards and other items," SK spokesman Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
The lit of stolen things is being updated, Markin added.
Forensic experts said deputy mayor of Podolsk Vera Sviridova had died of two gunshot wounds to the left temple. The body of the official was found in her own house by her driver.
"At present, the actions by unidentified persons are classified by the hallmarks of crime envisioned by Article 105, Part 2 of Russia's Criminal Code ("murder for selfish gains"), the spokesman said.
The investigators said the criminals had withdrawn some 300,000 roubles from Sviridova's bank cards at around 9 o'clock on Monday.
"The investigators have the photo of a suspect," Markin added.
