SUKHUM, September 26 (Itar-Tass) —— Abkhazia’s President Alexander Ankvab and Russia’s Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko had a meeting on Monday.
Matviyenko presented greetings from Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev with the election of Ankvab president of the Republic of Abkhazia. Matviyenko will participate in the ceremony of inauguration of president elect, which is due at 13:00 Moscow time.
Ankvab greeted Matviyenko with election of her to the high position, wished her every success and thanked for the visit to Abkhazia. Ankvab stressed that Abkhazia will continue to develop friendly relations with the Russian Federation.
“Russia is our strategic partner, and our mutual relations will only develop and get stronger in future,” Ankvab said.
