MOSCOW, September 26 (Itar-Tass) — Police investigator has been detained in the Moscow region for taking a bribe he extorted for termination of criminal case, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee’s (SK) main department for the Moscow region told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“The chief of the department for investigating crimes committed in the territory under control of the third and fourth police offices of the Podolsk interior department – a police captain in July demanded from a person suspected of theft 750 thousand roubles as a bribe to terminate the criminal case, as well to remove from the case files the protocols of investigative actions with the suspect that prove his theft,” the SK said.
However, the man turned to law enforcement authorities and his next meeting with the policeman took place under the control of the internal affairs officers of the main police department of the Moscow region.
“Upon receipt of the money in the amount of 300 thousand roubles near a house in Krasnogvardeisky Boulevard in Podolsk the police captain was detained. The suspect now has been released on one million rouble bail, according to a court decision,” the main investigation department press service said.
