GORNO-ALTAISK, September 26 (Itar-Tass) —— Regional finance minister of the Altai Republic Svetlana Gashkina has been convicted on Monday for bribing a worker of the Federal Execution of Sentences Service. A district court of the Altai Republic administered a 250,000 rouble fine to the defendant.
The investigation established that Gashkina turned over a bottle of cognac and some chocolate to a worker of the Altai regional department of the Federal Execution of Sentences Service for arranging a meeting with her nephew, Yevgeny Metsker, kept in custody without a consent of the investigation bodies. The meeting was arranged at the detention center in the settlement of Kyzyl-Ozek of the Maiminsky district.
Yevgeny Metsker-Director of a meat enterprise in the Altai region, is under prosecution on charges of embezzling budgetary funds allocated in support of the development of entrepreneurship in the Altai region.
The verdict passed to the convicted minister may be appealed within ten days.
