MOSCOW, September 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Participants in the VI All-Russian Media Forum of the United Russia Party will discuss on Sunday further social and economic development of the country and of its political system.
Traditionally, the forum is timed to the party’s congress, but this time the meeting with federal and regional media will not be a prelude, but rather a final accord of the ruling party, which set the tune not only for the running parliamentary campaign, but also to the upcoming presidential election campaign.
On Saturday, the United Russia leader and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed that President Dmitry Medvedev should head the list of United Russia at the elections to the State Duma, and Medvedev, in his turn initiated the candidature of Putin for the presidential election of 2012. Putin expressed confidence that following the presidential election Medvedev would head successfully the government.
At the congress Putin presented his program, and Medvedev explained seven items of his strategy as prime minister. They are modernisation of the economy, social obligations, fighting corruption, improvement of judicial system, support of international and inter-religious peace, establishment of modern political system, as well as home and foreign security, and smart foreign policy.
The specific feature of the upcoming media forum is that it will be supervised by the All-Russian Popular Front, together with which the United Russia Party is participating in the elections.
The media forum will feature members of the federal government, who are on the party’s regional lists: First Deputy Prime Ministers Viktor Zubkov and Igor Shuvalov, Deputy Prime Ministers Alexander Zhukov, Dmitry Kozak, Igor Sechin, Vyacheslav Volodin, Head of EMERCOM Sergei Shoigu and Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev.
