MOSCOW, September 23 (Itar-Tass) —— The Moscow police have detained eight persons for attempting an unauthorized picket near Gostiny Dvor, where United Russia opened its congress on Friday, a source at the city police department told Itar-Tass.
“Eight persons were detained for an attempt to hold an unauthorized picket. The detainees were taken to a police station,” he said.
One of them hit his head while being on the police bus. “Investigators are working to find out whether it was a provocation or an accident,” the source said.
The Ekho Moskvy radio said that the opposition had organized the picket to protest against the ‘unfair’ elections of the State Duma.
