Kirgizia applies for non-permanent membership in Security Council

“I ask UN members to support Kirgizia as a candidate for non-permanent member in the UN Security Council,” Rosa Otunbayeva said

UNITED NATIONS, September 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Kirgizia has applied for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in 2012-2013, President Rosa Otunbayeva said on Thursday.

Addressing the UN General Assembly she said: “The Republic of Kirgizia as a land-locked country and a small nation with transitional economy and as a young democratic republic calls for the necessity for countries of all categories to be represented in the Security Council.”

“In this connection I ask UN members to support Kirgizia as a candidate for non-permanent member in the UN Security Council,” she added.
