Most holidaymakers arrive at the Cuban sea resorts from Canada, and Great Britain is leading among European countries in this respect

MOSCOW, September 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Cuba is getting close to a record figure of more than two million tourists in the country in 2011. “We are very glad that more than 50,000 of these tourists are Russians,” a source in the Cuban Embassy in Moscow said on Thursday.

“During the visits to our country Russian citizens do not only familiarize themselves with its history and culture, but also confirm the feelings of friendship and sympathy, which unite the peoples of Russia and Cuba,” the Cuban diplomatic source said.

“It has become a good tradition for Cuba to reach such indicators,” the source said.

Most holidaymakers arrive at the Cuban sea resorts from Canada, and Great Britain is leading among European countries in this respect. Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, Argentina are following them. Russia is ranked ninth on this list. About 2.7 million people are expected to visit Cuba this year.
