Iran negotiating construction of new NPPs with Russia

Tehran “has its own plans to build nuclear power plants”

MOSCOW, September 22 (Itar-Tass) — Iran intends to continue the construction of nuclear power plants in the republic and is conducting active negotiations with Russia to build new nuclear power plants, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated on Thursday. “We are actively negotiating with Russia to build new nuclear power plants,” Ahmadinejad said in an interview with the Russia Today television channel on Thursday.

Tehran “has its own plans to build nuclear power plants,” but in this case Iran intends to use the international experience, he said. “We did not state that we will be building new power stations without cooperation with foreign partners. If some country offers cooperation to us, we will accept this offer,” the Iranian president said.

Scientific achievements cannot made only by any one nation or the group of people, Ahmadinejad believes. “Science is one of the most promising spheres of cooperation between peoples and the governments of various countries,” he underlined.
