Double explosion in Makhachkala injures over 60

According to the medical center, one policeman and two civilians are in serious condition

MAKHACHKALA, September 22 (Itar-Tass) — Two explosions set off in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, in the small hours of Thursday injured 61 people, including 44 members of police personnel, and killed one policeman in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, a source at the republican Center of Emergency Medicine has told Itar-Tass.

According to the medical center, one policeman and two civilians are in serious condition.

Investigators say a car bomb was set off by unidentified assailants at an intersection of Dakhadayev and Yermoshkin Streets at 00:03, Moscow time. Some time later, when police details arrived at the scene of the crime, another car bomb exploded.

The power of the explosive devices is being ascertained . Investigation is being carried on.
