UNITED NATIONS, September 22 (Itar-Tass) — A meeting slated to be held in Moscow on September 24 will give a chance to Ukraine to get “certain guarantees” in question of natural gas supplies to Europe.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich told a news conference on Wednesday that a set of efforts designed to secure stable deliveries of fuel and energy to Europe would be discussed at a meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev.
“Ukraine is going to have an opportunity to get certain guarantees for transportation of gas and oil via its territory. Price is also going to be discussed just as how to build partnership relations in future. We are doomed to search for answers to these questions together,” Yanukovich told journalists.
He added that modernization of Ukraine’s gas transportation system and the construction of new routes for delivers should be discussed at negotiations with the owners and consumers of fuel and energy: Russia and countries of the Caspian region, Central Asia and Europe.
Yanukovich emphasized that stable gas supplies were in the interests of Ukraine, Russia and Europe.
