MOSCOW, September 21 (Itar-Tass) —— Parliamentary candidates from the organization Motherland - Congress of Russian Communities (CRC) can join the list of United Russia in the forthcoming Duma elections, the deputy secretary of the presidium of the United Russia’s General Council, Yuri Shuvalov, told Itar-Tass on the sidelines of the CRC congress.
Speaking at the CRC congress the informal leader of that structure, Dmitry Rogozin, today called on his supporters to back the upcoming elections, and the prime minister and leader of United Russia Vladimir Putin. The congress is expected to adopt a resolution to this effect.
"If the application is accepted and considered by the ARPF, it will become a reality," Shuvalov said, adding that the Coordinating Council of the ARPF woould meet in session later today.
He also said that several members of the CRC had successfully passed the primaries and could expect to be included in the lists of candidates.
The senior representative of United Russia leadership has admitted that he largely agreed with Rogozin, who had raised the issue of ethnic identity awareness. He recalled that the same ideas were shared by members of the Social Conservative Union, created last Saturday on the basis of one of the party’s clubs.
