RF may request information about tax evaders in Swiss banks - Kudrin

"Today, at a cabinet meeting we will consider a draft agreement with Switzerlan", - he said

MOSCOW, September 21 (Itar-Tass) —— An agreement under which Russia will be able to request information from Swiss banks about Russians who evade taxes is to be approved at a meeting of the government on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin told the State Duma.

"Today, at a cabinet meeting we will consider a draft agreement with Switzerland, which has been prepared and initialed by that state - on additional information about the accounts of Russian citizens in Swiss banks," Kudrin said. "Such work has already been done by the U.S., Britain and France in relation to their citizens," he recalled.

"We will also request information in respect of accounts and tax evaders, if here in Russia there are duly initiated procedures to search for evasion or money laundering," said Kudrin. "If there is evidence to that effect, we will be able to get relevant information from Swiss banks."

"Today at a cabinet meeting we will approve that agreement and at the end of the week I will sign it with Switzerland," concluded Kudrin.
