NAZRAN, September 21 (Itar-Tass) — Police said aide to Ingushetia's Sunzha district prosecutor Ali Dobriyev, detained earlier this week, was a member of the gang led by Alexander Tikhomirov, also known as "Said Buryatsky." Tikhomirov was one of the ideologists of religious extremism in the region.
"Dobriyev, 23, detained on suspicion of setting up a gang, was a member of the illegal paramilitary formation led by ideologist of religious extremism in the region "Said Buryatsky," who was destroyed some time ago. According to police information, part of the group Dobriyev set up has already been destroyed," an Ingush law-enforcement official said.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that Dobriyev had been detained on suspicion of setting up a gang and carrying out several armed attack.
"Criminal proceedings were opened against Dobriyev under Criminal Code articles on "setting up an illegal paramilitary formation," and "illegal turnover of weapons committed by an organized group," the SK said.
According to the investigators, he set up an illegal paramilitary formation in Ingushetia in 2010, with the view of unsettling the situation in the republic.
The prosecutor's aide acquired two assault rifles, two machine guns, a Makarov pistol and a large amount of ammunition for the gang members, the investigators said.
The law-enforcement bodies have proven his involvement in a number of robberies in the Nazran district, in which these weapons were used. The suspect is under arrest. An investigation is underway, the SK said.
