YEKATERINBURG, September 21 (Itar-Tass) — Although efficient in the short-term perspective, the use of armed forces may have contradictory after-effects in the long-term perspective, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Wednesday.

“Staking on force has brought no lasting democratic solution in either of the conflicts worldwide,” Patrushev said at the second international meeting of high representatives in charge of security issues that opened in Yekaterinburg. “We can enhance security in the face of threats and challenges of the 21st century only with the use of new tools. First of all, it is a dialogue, relaying on mutual trust, due account of each other’s interests, responsible and conscientious cooperation.”
