SEOUL, September 21 (Itar-Tass) — The chief delegates of the two Koreas at six-country talks on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Wie Sung-rak and Ri Yong Ho, begin this year's second round of talks in Beijing on Wednesday.
Analysts say the principal aim of the two chief delegates is to discuss the possibility of holding bilateral nuclear talks between the two Koreas and a resumption of the six-country nuclear dialogue, in which the United States, China, Russia, and Japan participate as well.
South Korea, according to Wie Sung-rak, hopes to achieve useful results so as to give a push to the negotiating process which has been stalled since the end of 2008 and which, in result, is expected to ensure nuclear disarmament of the North.
This will be a second inter-Korean high-level contact in the past two months, with which Seoul links cautious hope that such a meeting will help promote a resumption of the six-country nuclearl talks. The chief delegates of the two Koreas last met at the end of July in Indonesia where a regional security forum was held.
