MINSK, September 20 (Itar-Tass) — Belarus hopes for resetting relations with Europe on the principles of equality and mutual respect, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday.
Receiving credentials from Maira Mora, the head of the EU delegation to Belarus, Lukashenko noted that he relies “on her rich diplomatic service experience (Mora headed Latvia’s diplomatic mission in Minsk – Itar-Tass), which will allow to take an active stance on the development of the Belarusian-European relations and ensure their reset on the principles of equality and mutual respect.”
He underlined that the European Union is one of Belarus’ key partners in trade, economic and investment sectors.
Belarus and the EU ensure Europe’s reliable protection from major challenges and threats, pool efforts in the fight against transborder crime, illegal migration and trafficking in humans, drugs and arms, Lukashenko said.
