One man dies & ten rescued in crash between launch & dry-cargo ship

Rescuers are now searching the bay, and circumstances of the incident are being specified

MOSCOW, September 18 (Itar-Tass) — One man died and ten were rescued in a crash between a launch and a dry-cargo ship in the Primorye area, Itar-Tass learnt at the press service of the Far Eastern regional centre of the Ministry for Emergencies.

“According to preliminary data, the crash between a launch and a dry-cargo ship took place at the Golden Horn Bay. It is supposed that there were 11 people on the launch; one of them died, while ten were rescued,” a source said.

Nevertheless, rescuers are now searching the bay, and circumstances of the incident are being specified.

In turn, a source at law enforcement bodies told Itar-Tass that “the pleasure launch that suffered from the incident, belonged to a private person”. “Following a crash with a dry-cargo ship, all 11 people aboard the launch dropped into water, and one of them died,” the source said. Work is now in progress to look for the victim. The rescued people were evacuated by passing-by ships.

Reasons and circumstances of the incident are being specified.
