150,000 workers needed to serve participants, guests, Olympic projects

The existing municipal possibilities can now meet Olympic requirements in personnel only by seven percent

SOCHI, September 17 (Itar-Tass) — A total of 150,000 personnel will be needed to serve participants, guests and projects of the Olympic Games in Sochi, said on Saturday vice-premier Dmitry Kozak at a roundtable, held on the sidelines of the investment forum “Sochi-2011”. The roundtable deals with personnel questions on preparing the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

“All in all, 150,000 jobs will be created at all newly built and operating facilities in the sphere of hospitality during the Olympic Games. A third of them is to remain in the city and work on a permanent basis. This is a serious impetus for the city’s development, but at the same time it is an additional problem which should be tackled now,” the vice-premier claimed.

According to Kozak, organisers of the Olympic Games in Sochi have to create a unique technology of recruiting personnel, competition among potential candidates as well as interest of employers. “I assess this work as very important and pressing,” the vice-premier stressed.

Contracts right with three companies, rendering services in recruiting personnel were signed on Saturday at the roundtable “Acute questions of involving and training personnel for Games”. The Adekko Company will help the “Sochi-2014” Organising Committee in recruiting over 5,000 people of temporary personnel.

Kelly Services CIS – in recruiting permanent personnel as well as in establishing and running a Centre of Olympic Career. This company was entrusted with finding thousands of highly skilled specialists for the Organising Committee, while the Career Centre will recruit over 52,000 staff members of organisations to be employed in serving guests of the Olympic Games.

Another representative of the HR market – Business Training – will prepare personnel for work at the Olympic Games in cooperation with the Russian International Olympic University.

“A team makes games, and therefore we invite to the Russian Olympic project three major players in the market of recruiting and training services – companies, having international expertise and experience of work in the Russian market,” noted president of the “Sochi-2014” Organising Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko. According to the president, new partners took an obligation to recruit and train over 75,000 specialists in a short period of time.
