MOSCOW, September 17 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with US State Secretary Hilary Clinton the situation in the Middle East and an intention by Palestine to address the UN in order to gain membership of this organisation, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Saturday.
“There was a telephone talk between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton on the American initiative on September 16,” says a report by the ministry. The sides “touched at the talk on some questions on the situation in the Middle East, including an intention of Palestinians to address the UN in the context of holding a meeting of the Middle East Quartet of international intermediaries in New York”.
