South Korea to build thermal power plant in Sochi

The Russian government has guaranteed financing of 70 percent of the overall cost of the project estimated at 300 million dollars

SEOUL, September 15 (Itar-Tass) —— The Korea Western Power Corporation has announced plans to build a combined thermal power plant in Central Russia.

A memorandum of intent signed by the South Korean company envisages that South Korea is to build a combined thermal power plant with a capacity of 180 megawatts in Sochi where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held.

The Russian government has guaranteed financing of 70 percent of the overall cost of the project estimated at 300 million dollars, a representative of the Korea Western Power Corporation said.

A different agreement signed by a South Korean and a Japanese company envisages joint development of coal deposits in Siberia and joint use of sea ports in the Maritime region.
