MOSCOW, September 15 (Itar-Tass) — Chisinau’s non-response to Moscow’s query for the detention of Russian citizen Eduard Bagirov can cause damage to partnership between Russia and Moldova, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.
“As for Russian Eduard Bagirov, we voice serious concern over extending his detention to 30 days. Earlier, he was sentenced to three months on suspicion of organising mass disorders in the Moldovan capital on April 7, 2009,” the diplomat said.
“We must state that Russia’s reiterated addresses remain without any response. We note that the non-response from Chisinau can cause damage partnership between our countries and have a negative impact on bilateral relations,” Lukashevich said.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Embassy intend to control this issue and do their best to release our citizen as soon as possible,” the spokesman said.
