Right Cause revokes resolutions passed under Prokhorov's chairmanship

The new Charter envisages that Chief of the party executive committee retains his functions and is given a status of a deputy party chairman

MOSCOW, September 15 (Itar-Tass) — The delegates to the congress of the Right Cause party adopted a new party Charter on Thursday after the Congress had sacked Mikhail Prokhorov from the post of the party chairman. Member of the federal political council Vladimir Nikitin said the new Charter offers more freedom to regional departments. In particular, a clause of the former charter, which demanded coordination of all lists of candidates running at elections of all levels with the center, has been annulled.

The new Charter envisages that Chief of the party executive committee retains his functions and is given a status of a deputy party chairman.

The Congress also revoked previous resolutions passed by Prokhorov on the expulsion of Andrei Bogdanov and the Ryavkin brothers - Sergei and Alexander, from the party.

A new federal political council of the party will number 13, including the party chairman and his deputy.

Earlier on Thursday the Congress had sacked Mikhail Prokhorov from the post of the party chairman. For his part, Prokhorov admitted with regret that" a meeting he organized at the Academy of Sciences was rather a High Assembly than a congress." Prokhorov also urged his fellow party members to quit the party.

"Mikhail Dmitriyevich Prokhorov has declared he is creating a new party. He proved to be a very «logical" person," head of the Federal Executive Council of the Right Cause party Andrei Dunayev noted with irony.
