Terror act against imam prevented in Chechnya’s Argun

Argun residents told the police at 12:35 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday that they had seen a suspicious object attached to the bottom of the local imam’s car

MOSCOW, September 13 (Itar-Tass) —— A terror act against an imam has been prevented in Argun, Chechnya, National Counter Terrorism Committee representative Nikolai Sintsov told Itar-Tass.

“Argun residents told the police at 12:35 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday that they had seen a suspicious object attached to the bottom of the local imam’s car on Sayatanovskaya Street,” he said.

The police cordoned the area. Demolition experts of the Federal Security Service and the Chechen Interior Ministry found the bomb equivalent to about 700 grams of TNT under the Toyota bottom. The bomb was unarmed with a hydrodynamic gun. No one was hurt.

The Chechen Interior Ministry opened a criminal case. “The vigilant citizens prevented a terror act and casualties,” Sintsov said.

The republican operative staff of the National Counter Terrorism Committee supervised the operation.
