GORKI, September 13 (Itar-Tass) —— Full-time studying postgraduates of Russian institutions of higher learning must be granted deferment from military service, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.
Speaking at the meeting on students' social problems, Medvedev noted he had given corresponding directions to the Defence Ministry and pledged to check how they were followed.
All the full-time postgraduates must not be drafted into the army. There must be no objections to this. It must be controlled how it is really followed, the president said.
Postgraduates are not students, but young scientists, for whom conditions must be created to come to the defence of their dissertations, Medvedev noted.
