MOSCOW, September 13 (Itar-Tass) — Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin has explained his plans to head the capital's list of the United Russia party at the upcoming December elections to the State Duma lower house of parliament by “pragmatism” and “feedback” with the city dwellers.

Nobody in the world has invented a more effective “feedback” with the population than elections, Sobyanin said in an interview to the Vesti-FM radio station on Tuesday. “The State Duma election is one of the clearest forms of feedback with the citizens. The way they vote means how they appreciate your work. And when I said that I will possibly head the list of United Russia it means that I say – here’s my program, here’s my work, please assess it,” the mayor said.

“If you are satisfied – vote ‘for’ and if unhappy – vote ‘against’,” said Sobyanin.

“I think it’s a rather sensible, courageous and right thing to do, nothing more. There is less politics in it and more pragmatism,” the mayor said.

“It is necessary to understand: is our work in the city good or not. And to directly ask Muscovites about this at the elections,” he stressed.

Sobyanin also noted that the city government is responsible for organising the elections, not counting the votes – “it is the work of election commissions.” The task of the city is to “organise the elections, the material base, control all the officials,” and it will be done “one way – to make the elections maximally comfortable and transparent,” the mayor noted.
