Assaulters seize 5 mln rbls in cash from businessman in Moscow

The wounded businessman has been hospitalized

MOSCOW, September 13 (Itar-Tass) — A total of 5 million rubles /USD 1=RUB 29.5/ in cash was seized from a businessman, who came under an armed assault on a bedroom community street in western Moscow late night Monday.

As time drew by past midnight and well into the early morning Tuesday, the police said they were still unable to track down the assaulters.

The incident occurred on Kastanayevskaya Street in the Fili area. A group of six men, supposedly having an ethnic background in the Caucasus, shot the businessmen from a non-lethal gun and took away a bag with banknotes from him.

“The information available at the moment suggests the robbers made a getaway from the site of the crime on two cars – a black jeep and a Mazda that accompanied it,” a police source told Itar-Tass.

“To track the criminals down and to detain them, a special action plan has been enacted,” he said.

The wounded businessman has been hospitalized.

Police operatives believe the robbery was committed upon a tip and was planned well in advance.
