Iran ready to consider Russia’s proposals for cooperation in nuclear sector

Talks on the matter will be continued after the construction of the Bushehr nuclear plant is over and it is put into operation - Fereydoon Abbasi-Davani

BUSHEHR, Iran, September 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Iran is ready to consider Russia’s proposals for further cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, Fereydoon Abbasi-Davani, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said on Monday.

“For the sake of developing its national atomic energy sector, Iran wants to use both its own potential and assistance from other countries. In the recent years, we have gained a vast experience of cooperation with Russian experts in the sector,” he told a news conference in Bushehr. “It goes without saying that such experience must be used in future. We will welcome and consider all Russian proposals that are in the interests of both countries. Talks on the matter will be continued after the construction of the Bushehr nuclear plant is over and it is put into operation.”

According to Abbasi-Davani, the Iranian program for the development nuclear energy sector provides for the creation of facilities for 20,000 megawatt. The Bushehr plant’s rated capacity is 1,000 megawatt.
