MOSCOW, September 11 (Itar-Tass) —— About 300 Russian tourists remain in hotels of Bulgaria’s Varna and Burgas as they are waiting for flying back home, Russia’s General Consulate in Varna told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“Grigory Sarishvili of Rostourism, Russia’s Consul General in Varna Yuri Solovyev and Petya Trifonova of Ama Tour met in the Dimyat Hotel for talks to discuss the current situation with return flight for Russian tourists,” Russia’s Deputy Consul in Varna Galina Petrovskaya said. “Their flight may be organised not earlier, than on Monday, as Bulgaria Air and Alma Tour resume their talks.”
The consulate general said that the number of tourists, waiting for a flight, is lower now, “as many tourists chose to use other aviation companies or found other ways to get home.”
Bulgaria Air’s Director Yanko Georgiev said his company will operate “flights to Moscow and one to St. Petersburg on Monday.”
Flights from Bulgaria’s airports in Burgas and Varna were delayed due to a financial dispute between the aviation company and tourist operator, who still fail to agree on resuming chartered flights. About 900 Russians became hostages to the dispute. The latter group of 260 tourists returned home on Saturday by a flight operated by Bulgarian Airlines.
