Two police officers and one serviceman of the Interior Troops were injured in an armed clash with a group of gunmen

MAKHACHKALA, September 10 (Itar-Tass) —— According to the preliminary information, two police officers and one serviceman of the Interior Troops were injured in an armed clash with a group of gunmen which occurred on the outskirts of the settlement of Kadyrkent in the Sergokalinsky region, ITAR-TASS learnt at the investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee for Dagestan.

According to the department, “while combing the locality, policemen and servicemen encountered a gang which opened fire on them, as a result, two policemen and one serviceman were injured.”

As representative of the National Antiterrorist Committee Nikolai Sintsov said, the gunmen were spotted in a forest in the area of the settlement of Kadyrkent at about 10.50 Moscow time. “At 11.30 the head of the operational headquarters - head of the Federal Security Service Department for the Republic of Dagestan announced the introduction of the counter-terrorist operation regime on the territory of the Kurgakalinsky and Karabudakhkentsky regions,” Sintsov said. He also said that the gang fired on policemen’s houses in one of the settlements last night.

The search operation is going on. Measures are being taken to block the gunmen. Additional forces are being involved.
