MOSCOW, September 9 (Itar-Tass) —— The Syrian opposition is ready for the dialog with the national authorities on certain conditions, head of the Syrian opposition delegation visiting Moscow, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Conference for Change Ammar Kurabi told a Friday press conference.
“Repressions and murders showed there was a large gap between the people and the authorities. We should start with restoring mutual confidence,” he said.
Kurabi however refuted reports claiming that the delegation might meet with Syrian officials in Moscow.
“We have come here to meet with representatives of Russian organizations and authorities. Rumors that we will allegedly hold negotiations with Syrian government workers in Moscow are lies,” he said.
Kurabi also said that the Russian draft resolution on Syria might help UN Security Council members reach accord.
“Today’s meeting with Federation Council International Affairs Committee Chairman Mikhail Margelov was useful and frank,” he said. “We discussed the Russian stance at the UN Security Council and the Russian draft resolution, which was bound to bring the positions closer together. We also discussed a draft roadmap for Syria, which aimed to begin genuine democratic transformations.”
