Border guards outpost comes under gunfire in North Caucasus

There was no data on anyone killed or wounded on either side by the time of reporting

MAKHACHKALA, September 8 (Itar-Tass) — Unknown gunmen opened fire from submachine-guns and grenade-launchers at an outpost of Russian border guards in the Tsuntinski district in the west of the North Caucasian region of Dagestan.

According to a source in the regional Interior agencies, the incident occurred at around 22:00 hours Moscow Standard Time near the village of Khupri.

“As a result, a fire broke out on the premises of the outpost and the border guards had to retaliate with gunfire on the part, too,” the source said.

The combat continued for about ten minutes.

There was no data on anyone killed or wounded on either side by the time of reporting.
