3 Ukrainian soldiers from Lithuania-led NATO team wounded in Afghanistan

VILNIUS, September 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Three Ukrainian servicemen from the Lithuania-led NATO international group for the restoration of Afghanistan’s Ghowr Province have been wounded as their vehicle came ran into a home-made mine, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry reported on Thursday.

The armoured car with three Ukrainian and one Lithuanian servicemen was heading for a shooting ground when it hit the mine some three kilometres off the group’s camp, the ministry said. The three Ukrainian servicemen received minor wounds, while the Lithuanian soldier was intact.

Lithuania has been leading the NATO team in the Ghowr Province since 2005. Along with about 150 Lithuanian nationals, the group includes more than 200 servicemen and civil specialists from Georgia, Denmark, Poland, the United States, Ukraine, Finland, and Japan.
