MOSCOW, September 7 (Itar-Tass) —— This year’s budget deficit may be reduced to nothing, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the government’s presidium on Wednesday.

“According to data that we have been getting from the Finance Ministry, this year we shall reduce the budget deficit to zero,” he said.

He recalled that last year the government proceeded from the assumption this year’s budget will have a deficit of 3.6 percent.
