IRKUTSK, September 7 (Itar-Tass) — Eight people were killed on Tuesday in two road accidents on the Baikal federal highway in the Irkutsk region, the local traffic police department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
In the first accident in the Cheremkhovo district the driver of a minibus Toyota Hiace Regius speeded and collided with a Volvo VNL heavy van moving in the same direction. All four people in the Toyota vehicle died on the spot from injuries.
Several hours later there was another accident in the Usolsky district as the driver of a VAZ-21100 car did not give way at the exit from a secondary road and collided with a KAMAZ-55-102S truck. The driver and three passengers of the car also died of injuries.
Police are investigating both road accidents.
