MOSCOW, September 6 (Itar-Tass) — The crew of the MiG-31 fighter jet of the Russian Air Force comprising two pilots that crashed in the Perm Territory has been killed, spokesman for the RF Defence Ministry Colonel Igor Konashenkov told Itar-Tass.
“The search and rescue party that arrived at the plane crash site found that the crew of the fighter was killed,” he said.
According to the Defence Ministry official, “the crashed aircraft had no weapons on board.”
Konashenkov said that the fighter disappeared from radar screens at 06:41, Tuesday during a scheduled flight about 11 kilometres southwest of the Bolshoye Savino airfield. At 07:34 MSK a Mi-8 helicopter of the search and rescue service found the crash site. It is located 600 metres southeast of the Bugry settlement. A search and rescue group was dispatched to the scene.
“According to preliminary information, there have been no casualties or destruction on the ground at the crash site,” the Defence Ministry spokesman said.
