Islamic cleric killed in North Caucasus

The body of Movladi Buzurtanov, 58, was found on a street not far from the river Assa in the township of Nesterovskaya

NAZRAN, September 4 (Itar-Tass) — An Islamic cleric was shot dead by unknown criminals in Russia’s North Caucasian region of Ingushetia Saturday, sources at the regional Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

The body of Movladi Buzurtanov, 58, was found on a street not far from the river Assa in the township of Nesterovskaya.

The cleric was killed from a shotgun.

On the same day, malefactors blew up a policeman’s cars in the township of Ordzhonikidzevskaya.

By a lucky chance, no one was killed or wounded in the incident.

An explosive device was planted under the floor of a car belonging to Issa Geroyev, an officer of the police patrol service. It went off at around 21:00 hours after the policeman had run the car into the yard of his private house.

Early information suggests the explosive had a timing device and was stuffed with incapacitating elements.
