Armed external interference to throw back Palestine settlement – FM

The experience of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya proves that finally the peoples themselves can decide on the fate of their countries

MOSCOW, September 1 (Itar-Tass) — Armed external interference into internal conflicts will throw back prospects for the Palestinian settlement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

In the meeting with students and professors of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) on Thursday, Lavrov said armed external interference into internal conflicts “will throw back prospects for the settlement of the Palestinian conflict”.

“The experience of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya proves that finally the peoples themselves can decide on the fate of their countries. Armed external interference into internal conflicts creates conditions for twisting the spiral of confrontation in different regions,” the Russian minister said.

“As for the Middle East we can confirm that such scenario will throw back prospects for the settlement of the Palestinian problem. This way will be a powerful source for stirring up extremism in the region. Today international affairs need stability and the ability to create conditions for the sustainable development,” Lavrov pointed out.
