Belarus National bank raises refinancing rate by 5 points to 27 percent

Over 2011, this is already the eighth increase of the refinancing rate

MINSK, August 30 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarus has increased refinancing rate by five percent points to 27 percent per annum.

“The National Bank of Belarus established the refinancing rate at the level of 27 percent per annum starting from September 1, 2011,” the bank’s board said in a related document published on Tuesday.

Over 2011, this is already the eighth increase of the refinancing rate. The first increase of the index became effective on March 16, before which the refinancing rate amounted to 10.5 percent.

Belarus’ inflation made up 41 percent in January-July 2011.
