Police officer killed in Moscow was resigning - Ministry

A group of investigators is working at the scene

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) — The police officer, who was shot to death in central Moscow on Tuesday, had tendered his resignation after failing performance review, the press service of the Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

"Tamaz Broi, an employee of the department for operating service motor transport under the Interior Ministry’s security police centre, was halfway to being discharged," the Interior Ministry said.

Representative of the main department of the Investigative Committee for Moscow Viktor Tsyplyonkov confirmed the murder.

An unidentified attacker fired several shots at Broi sitting in a white Daewoo Matiz near House # 39, Building 2 in Verkhnyaya Khokhlovka Street in Moscow at around 11:00, Moscow time on Tuesday.

The man died on the spot from the gunshot wound to the head. The criminal escaped in nearby yards, police told Tass earlier.

Criminal proceedings were opened over "murder" and "illegal turnover over weapons.
