RF’s Rooboronexport supplies 6 Mi-17 copters to Indonesia

BANGKOK, August 27 (Itar-Tass) —— The Indonesian Defence Ministry has received six new Russian helicopters Mi-17 from the company Rosoboronexport, the newspaper Jakarta Post writes. The transfer of the helicopters took part in Tangerang - - the satellite city of Jakarta in the west of the island of Yawa.

Indonesian Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro attended the ceremony. “Helicopters Mi-17 can transport 36 people or three tonnes of cargoes and can be used for military, humanitarian and rescue operations in disaster areas,” he stressed. As Yusgiantoro said, the sum of the contract for purchasing these helicopters amounted to 56 million dollars.

In 2010, Indonesia also purchased six helicopters Mi-17 from Russia.
