MINSK, August 27 (Itar-Tass) — Belarus has stopped the prosecution of former presidential candidate Grigory Kostusev. He had been accused of rioting in Minsk on December 19, 2010 after the presidential election. Travel restrictions have been lifted from him.
As Kostusev said earlier in the day, he had received a notice declaring "the termination of criminal proceedings due to the absence of a corpus delicti."
According to the oppositional United Civil Party, the criminal case against the head of the Young Democrats Oleg Korban, had been dropped, too. He received a letter from the preliminary investigation department of the Minsk police force. In addition, on Friday the news arrived of the termination of a criminal case against Alexander Orestovich - a member of the election campaign team of a former presidential candidate, Nikolai Statkevich.
A little earlier criminal proceedings were terminated against the chairman of the United Civil Party, Anatoly Lebedko and Belarusian opposition journalist Natalia Radina on charges of involvement in riots.
